Cross-Stitch and Mental Health Questionnaire – Privacy Policy

This page explains the data handling and processing activities related to the survey (further referred to as “the Questionnaire”) conducted by Aneta Pawlik (hereafter “the Researcher”) as part of her Master’s degree at FH Joanneum in Graz (Austria).

1. Adherence to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe

Considering the location of the Researcher is Europe, the privacy policy was written in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). More information about the European data regulation policies can be found here:

2. Scope of this Privacy Policy

This privacy policy refers exclusively to the entire research lifecycle for the Questionnaire, which includes but is not limited to information collection, processing, management, analysis, publication of results derived from the analysis, and storage.

3. Purpose of Data Collection

The Researcher obtains the data specifically to answer the research question posed in the Questionnaire. The data concerns non-identifiable information about the personal experiences of the respondents regarding their hobbies and well-being, as well as self-assessed mental health observations. The Researcher also asks for demographic information for the purpose of responder statistics and to understand potential linkages between responses and age, gender, or work situation.

The Questionnaire was designed in line with the GDPR’s data minimisation, i.e. processing personal data that are adequate (sufficient to fulfil the research purpose), relevant and limited to what is necessary.

4. Data Anonymisation

The Questionnaire does not collect personal data that could be used to identify respondents and their identity. It’s been designed with closed-ended questions, as well as five open-ended questions which do not ask for personal information. The responses seen by the Researcher are also not linked to identifiable characteristics (such as email address or IP address).

5. Collection and Processing Tools

The Questionnaire is hosted on Google Forms and therefore falls under the Privacy Policy outlined by Google and is protected by Google’s comprehensive data security protocols.

Google Forms collects Questionnaire responses, which are then stored on the Researcher’s Google Drive. The research data must be stored in a correct, complete, unadulterated, and reliable manner for a minimum retention period of 10 years after the publication of a related work following research completion.

The information collected in the Questionnaire will be processed in JASP, a free and open-source program for statistical analysis supported by the University of Amsterdam. The program is downloaded and used locally by the Researcher. The analysis file or the project raw files will be stored locally on the Researcher’s computer and not uploaded to the cloud or any other online storage platform.

Finally, the data will be analysed, interpreted and summarised manually by the Researcher, with the final report being accessible to students and employees at FH Joanneum, as well as platforms outside the university network chosen by the Researcher.

6. Data Transfer and Sharing

The data collected through the Questionnaire is not shared with third parties.
