This is a digital PDF pattern only. The PDF contains the following versions:

  • colour blocks with symbols,
  • symbols in black and white only
  • Pattern Keeper compatible chart.
  • PLEASE NOTE that sometimes it was not possible to include the Pattern Keeper chart in the same PDF as the main chart (it was preventing PK from rendering the PDF in-app) – in such cases a direct download link was added in the notes on the cross-stitch key page. Upon clicking on it, you will receive a separate PDF with the chart in the Pattern Keeper format.

Do you like spells and witchcraft-themed cross-stitch patterns? If so, you will love my modern spell for cursing the victim with a broken screen.

This gorgeous dark owl free-cross-stitch chart was fashioned after this creepy owl illustration from the book “Från Upländsk bygd” (Swedish for “From the Uppland area”) published in 1899, digitalised by the British Library. The image is available under no known copyright restrictions.

I cleaned the image up and added my twist in the form of a curse composed by yours truly:

"Spiders, candles, mice and moths
Bats, dark figures, ash and claws
Footsteps, whispers, squeaky door,
May their phone smash on the floor"

The pattern includes three pronoun versions because we do not want to misgender when we curse someone!
